I love all things South End. So when I saw that Blackbird Doughnuts set up shop in the South End, I moved it to the top of my weekend To Do list. My best friend from college was in town this weekend and we had brunch plans at a restaurant around the corner. What better way to spoil our appetite before brunch than to sneak into Blackbird Doughnuts 15 minutes before our reservation?
It was worth it! Their doughnuts are heavenly with just the right amount of doughy fluff and icing. Their flavors reflect an art form only achieved by a true artisan baking company– blueberry lavender, pineapple habanero, dark chocolate pomegranate, just to name a few. The perfect start to a weekend morning, these doughnuts do not disappoint.
Their space is an open concept with contemporary accents– the chandelier being my favorite! White subway tiles are contrasted by a simple black and white menu. I love that you can see into the kitchen as they whip up the delicate treats.
We tasted the blackberry lavender and dark chocolate-pomegranate. Although they were a little squished from the bag, I hope their deliciousness still comes through the pictures.
