Back to San Diego we go. I wish! For now, I’ll have to remember our trip fondly and you all can take a quick tour of the San Diego Zoo through the lens of my camera.

The zoo was a must-see on our short three day trip. We arrived at the park just as they opened and were determined to map out our route so that we could see every area of the zoo. I’m proud to say that in just four hours we made it!

Here are some of the highlights and must-sees if you’re taking a trip to the zoo. It’s truly a fantastic experience and the animals we got to see were beautiful!

The koalas were a definite highlight– four of the females had joeys in their pouches and it was feeding time just as we arrived.

All the males were sleeping… shocker.

The elephants were my personal favorite. They are such gentle giants.

The polar bears were mischevous kids, fighting underwater and doing backflips off the glass. This one in particular was my favorite– he was convinced there was something in the container and wasn’t going to stop until he opened it.

The panda exhibit is beautiful– they rotate the baby pandas through the exhibit, although the babies tend to hide.

The monkey and ape park was filled with never-ending cuteness. This mother gorilla had her baby around Christmas time and the zoo keeper shared that she actually brought it out for the public to see on the day it was born. Doesn’t it look like a little human?

The zoo is a must-see if you’re traveling to San Diego. It took us about 4 hours to see all of the areas– bring good walking shoes (I certainly didn’t).
